The CSS program is a combination of Bible study and learning the Catholic faith.

The 28 weeks is an in-depth study of one Book of Scripture, and we have chosen the Gospel of Matthew.  It consists of three parts:

(1) Opening Program -  (announcements, prayer, etc.).

(2) Discussion Groups  - Discussion of study questions in the lesson for the week where each member should have prepared their lessons by answering the questions at home prior to attending the class.  Discussion of the study questions will strictly focus on the meaning of words, phrases, and paragraphs in the various verses.  Each group (10-12 ) will have a Group Leader who will help the group to stay focused on the study questions).

(3) Lecture - A DVD lecture by a priest-lecturer, Father Matthew Kauth, will be presented the last 30 minutes to provide the participants with a summary to make sure that all have clearly understood the main ideas of the lesson.

In addition participants, once registered, will be given access to their personal section of CSS.

Testimonials from St. Bernard Bible Study participants:

“I took the course to get more out of my Bible reading, and to get more involved in the parish and meet more people.  This study has more than met these needs.  I’ve gotten much more insight out of my scripture reading that I could have even imagined.  It was well put together.  Thank you all for your efforts. I would most definitely recommend this course to others.  It has given me a deeper understanding of the Gospel of John.  I think it will do the same for anyone who takes it.”

Mike Martin

“I thoroughly enjoyed this Bible Study.  I realized how little I had really known about my faith.  I feel like I have a much better understanding at this point.  I now pick up the Bible more often, just read it, and, I am getting so much more out of Mass.  I would highly recommend this course.  I think as Catholics we do things because we were told to without really understanding why.  This definitely changed that for me!  I also loved really getting to know other members of our Church!”
